Changes and Additions to Los Angeles 2028 Olympics

The Olympics will always have Paris. Next up for the Summer Games: Los Angeles 2028. The baton will be handed from one third-time Olympic host city to another at the closing ceremony Sunday in Paris, and much will be different in four years' time. New sports will make their Olympic debuts, picked by organizers in LA who also are bringing back others that left the program more than 100 years ago. While Paris had the Seine River, LA has the Pacific Ocean and its beaches. Paris' unmatched historic buildings gave the city a cinematic look. LA's streets are a living history of film and television.

Flag football, squash, and obstacle racing are some of the new sports that will be introduced at the Los Angeles Olympics. These additions are expected to bring a fresh and exciting element to the Games. Flag football, representing the future of American football's international growth, is a good fit for Los Angeles and has been welcomed by the organizers. Squash will join other racket sports like tennis and badminton, adding a new dynamic to the roster of events.

Modern pentathlon, a staple in the Olympics since 1912, will see some changes as well. Equestrian, one of the five disciplines, will be replaced as requested by the IOC. This move comes after concerns were raised about the treatment of animals in the sport. The Los Angeles 2028 Olympics promise to offer a mix of traditional and modern sports, catering to a diverse audience of sports enthusiasts from around the world.

With the upcoming Summer Games in Los Angeles, there is a sense of anticipation and excitement as the city prepares to showcase its unique blend of culture, history, and athleticism. As the baton is passed from Paris to LA, all eyes will be on the next chapter of the Olympics, where new stars will rise, and new sports will captivate audiences worldwide.
